High School
Private tutoring is available for most subjects and all grades at the high school level. Common subjects of interest are: Math, Calculus, Discreet Math, Data Management, Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and French
Students are taught on a one-on-one basis covering the current curriculum. The new curriculum expects students to use knowledge, application and thinking skills in their assignments, tests and projects. Private tutoring will help develop these skills in each tutoring session.
It is critical at the Grades 7-9 grades to have solid foundations in English and Math. Students at this level should focus on learning these core subjects for success in high school. For students in Grades 10-12, we recommend you take Tutoring Wonder’s prep courses to prepare your appropriate grade.
On-going private tutoring during the school year and in the summer months will keep the students up to date on the courses and prepare them for upcoming materials. Although some catch-up is necessary if your child is behind, our philosophy of success is to always have you ahead of the class.
Private tutoring is booked on an hourly basis. Regular sessions once or twice a week for an hour each session will keep your child on track and ahead. If your child is behind, we recommend at least two sessions a week to get him/her caught up. Consistent tutoring is the only way to see improvements. Within a few short months you will see your child excel.
A typical private lesson will comprise of review of previous material, presentation of new material then practice exercises with the tutor. The student is expected to take some responsibility for knowing what current concepts are taught in day school. If there is sufficient time for your child to complete extra work at home, we will assign additional questions per your request. We don’t believe in overwhelming students with additional work if they don’t have time to do them.
Private tutoring can take place in the office or in the home. The study environment needs to be free of distractions. Thus if you have a busy household, keep in mind you can have tutoring at the office where we have designated private tutoring rooms.
Group Tutoring Group tutoring is offered to two or more students up to a maximum of 4. This service is ideal if you have same-age children (twins, triplets, classmates, etc.) who are in the same grade level. This is an economical way to have quality tutoring at a reduced cost. The first student is charged the regular fee and each additional student costs $10. Averaged out, the overall cost per student is lower.
